An allegory is a form of literature or art that usually has a hidden meaning or moral behind it. The meanings are usually related to politics, morals, and abstract concepts of life. The characters and ideas in allegories are frequently symbolic of some ideas or concept. Allegories utilize concrete objects to explain elusive concepts and make them more understandable in my opinion.

According to the link, Plato suggests that what we sense about reality is not in fact, reality, but a mere carbon copy of it. Reality. at first, may sometimes be created like the prisoners did when they were in the cave from the Republic. The real world can only be understood with intellect and wisdom. That is difficult because humans are used to being in their comfort zone. Also, he states that everyone has the ability to gain the knowledge about the real world. A person just needs to be guided to help him/her reach that point in which they can find the true reality.

So basically Plato believed that our senses of reality are too skew. He believed that we took in information and reduced it to our capabilities of understanding this true reality. And he also meant that it is the Philosopher’s duty to find out the truths of this reality.

3) In his Allegory of the Cave, Plato suggests that reality is only what we perceive it to be and much more. The people in the cave did not experience a life beyond the shadows and darkness. What you do not see, you do not know, and does not exist for you. But the reality was that there did exist a world beyond their cave. This allegory represents us people and our perception of the universe based on the mere five senses. Plato desires to expand our understanding of reality, by inspiring us to be more open minded. Instead of immediately perceiving the "common sense" as the truths of the universe, we must learn to understand outside the boundaries.

3) In Plato’s allegory The Cave he suggests that reality is created by the environment and observed by a person’s cognitive senses, yet true reality is apprehended intellectually. The symbolism also comes into play to illustrate how humans deal with reality. By dissecting the symbols one attains a better understanding of the allegory. The humans in the cave that has a mouth opening up to the light have been there from their childhood, meaning they weren’t always there. They were put there and they were chained so that they could not see things for what they really were, as their necks and feet were in a state of perpetual bondage, hindering them from moving forward or observing their environment. Knowledge is power, and with power comes responsibility, as well as unhappiness. Those who had knowledge put the humans there to keep them out of the light—the truth. Truth can hurt if one is not ready to accept or understand it, as seen by the humans venturing into the light and having their eyes irritated by it to the point where they wanted to turn away. The symbolic representation of the humans being in an underground cave is that they are experiencing a time of introspection, as they retreated into the darkness form the light to recover, for the inherent truth of the world proved to be too much. The fire represents warmth—a light in the darkness; hope—as well as cleansing, but the humans were so traumatized by reality they sought only to see the half-truths—the shadows. As Socrates said, “To them, I said, the truth would be literally nothing but the shadows of the images.”
In essence, humans from The Cave turned away from the truth because they couldn’t bear to move forward or accept things for what they were, and instead preferred to entertain the notion that the shadows created by the puppeteers were safer to believe in.
An allegory is a figurative mode of representing something instead of using literal representation. Allegory communicates its message by means of symbolic figures or actions.
